This video really puts it into perspective.  It’s shocking to me that almost 6 billion people earn less than $2/day.

I’ve spent my life in the United States and we have our own form of poverty here too.

Many of us scrape by to pay basic living expenses, many more enter their retirement years with no savings.  Meanwhile our local governments prey on their  citizens in the name of providing for their comfort and security.

And yet, we seem to always want to go “over there” to help people and write off our own people living in tents.

In the city where I live, San Francisco, they spend 100’s of millions of dollars on homeless services every year and still people are on the streets.  I don’t want to get into all the issues of why there’s such a disconnect around here as to why people are homeless.

It isn’t always because they’re lazy, addicted to drugs or crazy, it’s also because in order to rent any place in the Bay Area it’s going to be a minimum of $1,000/month.  So they raise the minimum wage and a bag of chips at Walgreens is still $2.09 and there’s only 3 chips in it.  OMG!  What’s the future gonna look like if we continue down this road?

The future is online.

There are no ifs, ands, or buts about it.

Sure, climate change could kill us all and then it won’t matter, but for now there’s a whole future out there waiting for anybody willing to dip their toe in it.

I created this blog almost 2 years ago and month by month I’ve continued to add to it.  This is one way to build your presence online.

People benefit from the information I share and that’s the whole point of providing it.

I used to be quite active in the Landmark community and one of the things I was encouraged to do was to try it on.

Leaving all the things that make “you” you, behind and in their place try on something else.

The idea that there’s an online community just waiting for you to plug in to in itself is intriguing, but what’s even more intriguing is discovery for yourself how you will choose to show up as.

The more I learn about the world the more I understand how much opportunity is hidden in plain sight.

It’s not necessary to travel thousands of miles to lift people up they’re all in our own backyards.

So, whether you’re living in a tent under the freeway or living in another country far, far away from the luxuries I’ve enjoyed (and still enjoy) in my life I invite you to click around my site and join me and my online community.  It’s time to rise up!
